Working mostly in ballpoint pen, Shohei Otomo’s insightful depictions of Japan expose both its commercial facade and deepest underground culture. Delivered with an unmistakable level of biting political analysis and technical perfection, Shohei’s work straddles the worlds of art, graphic design, anime and punk.
Son of the legendary Katsuhiro Otomo the prolific author and illustrator who has shaped so much of Japanese culture with titles such as AKIRA, Shohei’s work takes his fathers legacy into the next generation.
About Daisuke Kimura…
Graphic designer, illustrator, and art director. Born in 1974 and raised in Machida, Tokyo. Visited to San Francisco in 1996 and inspired by psychedelic culture and art. He began to create various art works after the trip. Now he is belonging to the creative division of an advertising agency for foreign-affiliated clients. Acting as a graphic designer works on advertisement visuals, packages, posters, logos, and typographies etc. He also released a print edition named “Samurai Jerry” for the Grateful Dead 50th anniversary.
